WHEN WE LAST LEFT OUR HEROES, DEAN HAD FALLEN DOWN THE TOTEM POLE IN THAT HE ONLY GOT A THANK YOU FROM THE GRATEFUL FEMALE OF THE WEEK, BUT HE DID MANAGE TO MAKE SOME FUCKING HILARIOUS TERRIFIED FACES WHILE THE PLANE WAS GOING DOWN, THUS LAYING A FOUNDATION FOR HIS NEW ROLE AS A COMEDIC CHARACTER AND DESTROYING WHATEVER ASSHOLE-ISH BAD BOY CRED HE WAS TRYING TO ESTABLISH.

God, I am slow going at this.

WHEN WE LAST LEFT OUR HEROES, DEAN WAS GETTING HIS CUSTOMARY KISS FROM A GRATEFUL FEMALE WHO HE STILL HAD NOT SLEPT WITH IN ANY WAY, BECAUSE HE SAVED THE GRATEFUL FEMALE’S SON FROM DROWNING EVEN THOUGH HE KILLED HER DAD BECAUSE OF REASONS. NOW THE WINCHESTER BROTHERS ARE BACK ON THE ROAD, TRYING TO TRACK THEIR DAD DOWN AND AVENGE BOTH THEIR MOTHER AND SAM’S GIRLFRIEND’S DEATH. I AM NOT REALLY PSYCHED ABOUT THIS EPISODE BECAUSE THE NEXT ONE IS CALLED “BLOODY MARY” AND I REALLY WANT TO GET TO THAT, EVEN IF IT’S CLICHED AS HELL.

No, I’m serious. I don’t really pay attention to spoilers, I don’t know what’s up with John Winchester.

But he supposedly “passed on” his Monster Book of Monsters journal to Dean and Sam, and he’s left you guys breadcrumbs to go by, and you’re taking on where he left off?

He’s dead. Or going to die soon.

…right?

I’m gonna drop the liveblogging for a bit, ‘cuz I’m pretty tired right now. I might pop in to comment though, depends on what happens.

Anyway.

WHEN WE LAST LEFT OUR HEROES SAM HAD DECIDED TO JOIN DEAN ON HIS AND THEIR FATHER’S QUEST TO HUNT DOWN THE DEMON WHO KILLED THEIR MOTHER AND SAM’S GIRLFRIEND. WHAT KIND OF WACKY ANTICS WILL THE BOYS GET INTO THIS TIME?

Here are my feelings on what I’ve seen so far.

From a subjective standpoint, I’m still a bit on the fence. I mean, the show is obviously going to have horror and ghosts and demons featuring prominently in it, and that is all cool with me, but I dunno about the characters. Sam at least is relatable, but Dean is another story altogether. I dunno, maybe he gets better as the show goes on. So far I can tell that he has a lot of issues, which is understandable, I just don’t connect with him as much as I do Sam. Also he’s a bit of an asshole. Just sayin’.

Like I said, maybe he gets better later on, or maybe he grows on you over time, but that’s just what I feel as of the pilot episode.

Objectively, the show looks pretty well put together. The visuals are awesome, the whole ghost bit was scary, I liked the bookends effect, and the story is compelling. There’s very much an American feel to the show, and I’m not sure if I really like that or really don’t, but that’s getting back into my opinion.

I’m probably going to watch episode two, but I don’t know about the liveblog thing. I find it amusing to put down my thoughts, and it would be nice see what actual fans think about them, but I don’t want to come off as annoying or spoil anything.

So I’m putting it to a vote. Anyone who likes my liveblog idea, raise your hand. Anyone who doesn’t, boo it down.

Keep in mind that I’ll probably still watch at least episode two, I just won’t talk about it.
